East Terrace Continental

East Terrace Continental (ETC) is simply amazing! (I should finish my review right here!).

If you’re looking for anywhere to have breakfast, brunch or lunch in Adelaide, you should look no further than ETC. I must admit it was very hard to get out of bed early on a Sunday morning, particularly after a late night, but ETC makes it all worth it. While other breakfast places barely have any customers, ETC is bursting at the seams. The line up of people here waiting to have breakfast is a testament to the success of their business.

Ordering takes place at the counter where you pay for your meal first. For breakfast, I ordered the Smoked Salmon. The meals arrived 15 minutes after ordering and in the sequence in which everyone ordered. As it happens in large groups, they totally forgot the order of a friend of mine. The problem was quickly rectified, and in the end, everyone was happy.

My meal, on the other hand, was well presented and absolutely delicious. The two slices of lightly toasted Turkish bread was the foundation of a great breakfast. The scrambled eggs were wonderfully rich and creamy. The eggs were nice and smooth, and so full of flavour. The smoked salmon had a nice silky texture and wasn’t too firm or slimy. The salt, the smoke and the fishy flavour were working in harmony like yin and yang. All the ingredients worked really well together and I was savouring every bite.

The staff are really friendly and the service is pretty good. The atmosphere is vibrant, particularly with the large breakfast crowds. I normally don’t go out for breakfast (because I go out for lunch and dinner), but this place is definitely worth rolling out of bed for!
