Rosemont Hotel

The Rosemont is somewhere I would never normally go. The place is so dark and dingy, I couldn’t tell what time of the day it was. The majority of the light came from the 39 flat screen televisions they have scattered across the room. I felt like I was one of those 24 hour security guards, stuck in an enclosed room, monitoring all the different screens. The clientele here are mainly tradies and problem gamblers.

There are two sections to this place which consist of the main bar and pokie areas. The main bar is just a rectangular room that could easily fit up to 150 people. There is outdoor seating which could seat another 20. The pokie area was closed at the time of visiting and doesn’t open till about 5pm. Pokie addicts will have spend their day at the Casino before visiting this place.

Today, I came to the Rosemont to check out their $12.90 schnitzel special. I know their normal schnitzel prices are around $20, so this time was as good as any to visit the place. The meal came out after a 15 minute wait and was nicely presented. Not surprisingly, the schnitzel was thin and small in diameter. The schnitzel size was directly proportional to the price. The chicken was tender, succulent and perfectly cooked. The Napoletana sauce was rich in texture and had appropriate coverage over the schnitzel.

The mozzarella topping was generous and the chicken had spent an adequate time browning under the grill. The salad was fresh as the vegetables were nice and crunchy. A vinaigrette dressing was used on the salad which was not over dressed. The chips were thin and firm, however, they could have spent a bit more time in the deep fryer. It wasn’t possible for the chips to be suffocated by the weight of the schnitzel in this instance because the chicken was too small.

Free wifi access is available at this place. The Manager gives you a docket which contains all the login information. The internet access only lasts for an hour, after which you’ll have to request another docket. The schnitzel was nice, and perfect comfort food for this wet and windy day. Pity about the schnitzel size and everything else about this place.
