The Mawson Lakes Hotel is well known for their mega chicken schnitzels. In what is a modern building, the hotel is simply decorated and seats about 200 people. The atmosphere is relaxed and the service is average.

One thing I liked about this place is the all you can eat salad bar. The potato bake at the salad bar is particularly nice. As expected, I ordered the Mega Chicken Parmi. The image on their website shows a single gigantic piece of chicken schnitzel. My meal arrived 20 minutes after ordering. To my disappointment, my schnitzel was two thin slices of schnitzel, one stacked on top of the other. The meals seemed to arrive in the order that they were ordered. A few of us were still waiting for our meals while others had finished.

My schnitzel was nicely presented but a bit dry. The size of it was basically enough to feed two people. The Napoletana sauce was a bit bland but had appropriate coverage over the whole schnitzel. The mozzarella cheese was plentiful and perfectly browned under the grill. The problem with putting one schnitzel on top of the other is that only one schnitzel had parmigiana topping. The schnitzel at the bottom was quite bland and it became a struggle to finish it. The chips were nicely cooked and of a good quality. I did find the weight of the two schnitzels squashed the chips at the bottom.

The mega schnitzel here was big, but it also had a price to match. You’re essentially paying for two schnitzels in the one meal. The menu pricing here is generally average with the desserts being quite cheap. I can understand the need for a pub out this way, but its definitely not worth coming out here for the super sized schnitzel. You’re either better off paying for a better quality schnitzel or just ordering two at your local.
