Piatto

There are so many choices for Italian food down Rundle Street. On this particular occasion, a group of us came in without a booking and they were more than happy to accommodate. The decor here is modern and chic, and the menu selection is extensive with lots to choose from.

When we ordered drinks, one of the waiters decided to be clever and not write anything down. Not surprisingly, they got a few of the orders wrong. On this occasion, I ordered the Lamb Pizza. The meal came out 20 minutes after ordering and all meals came out at the same time. My friend ordered the Marinara Pizza and the waiter came out with the Lamb Pizza and called it the Marinara Pizza. It was only when my friend started eating that she realised she was eating my meal.

The pizza itself was nicely presented and it didn’t taste too bad. The lamb used was minced, and not succulent tender chunks that I am used to. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, and the pizza was of a decent size. The tomato base was light in texture and the pizza base was hand made. I did find the crust to be a bit thicker than the other sections of the pizza. I also found some parts of the pizza to be saltier than others, so there were problems in the preparation department.

While the staff here were friendly, we did find it hard to get their attention. The food was OK and the atmosphere was relaxed. The prices here were on par with other Italian places. To me, it was just another Italian restaurant, with nothing to write home about.
