Dublin Hotel

There’s nothing like spending a lazy Sunday afternoon at the bay, particularly when the weather is nice. The sounds of the waves crashing into the shore and the gentle ocean breeze really set the mood for a relaxed day. When I’m in Glenelg, my usual haunt is the Dublin Hotel. The signage out the front indicated there was a $15 Manager’s special on a selection of meals. That was enough to draw us in.

Today, I ordered the Fish and Chips. The meal came out 20 minutes after ordering and the meals came out at the same time. My dish was well presented and surprisingly good. Unlike the fish and chip shop next door, the fish was fresh. The James Squire beer batter was executed perfectly. The batter was rich and crisp as it should be.

The salad was nice as the vegetables were fresh and crisp. The vinaigrette dressing complemented the fish and chips perfectly. The beer battered chips were beautifully cooked. They were well seasoned, crunchy and of a nice thickness. The only complaint I had with the dish was the tartare sauce. I thought it was a bit bland and it didn’t have the tangy zestiness that I’m used to.

The service was good, the atmosphere was relaxed and my meal was above average. I’ll definitely be back!
