Astonish Patisserie

Astonish Patisserie is so close to home for me. It’s my one stop shop for late night sugar fixes. This little dessert place reminds me of someones home library, although the coffee table made out of old books needs a bit more thought. The atmosphere here was relaxing and the service was OK. For what appeared to be a two person operation, servicing the counter, the kitchen and the seated customers would have been a challenge.

There are two sections to their menu. The simple desserts you can see by the counter, while the more intricate stuff is made to order. Feeling a bit full after my tapas dinner, I decided to order the Pistachio Crunch. The desserts came at different times, but to be fair, they did come out in the sequence in which they were ordered. My dessert was nice and light. The cream was subtle in sweetness and worked well with the pistachio pieces.

I felt the place was a bit understaffed, but not a bad place to visit for desserts.
