Taldy-Kurgan

If you want Russian cuisine, you basically have to be Russian to get it in Adelaide. Taldy-Kurgan bucks the trend and is one of the few places that offers Russian street food. Their most popular menu item, the piroshki, is a fried yeast bun with filling in it. I ordered two varieties, the Spinach and Ricotta Piroshki, and the Beef and Rice Piroshki.

Having never had these before, it is difficult for me to do a proper critique on the Piroshki. The Piroshki’s were hot when ordered, and surprisingly, they weren’t too oily. The Spinach and Ricotta Piroshki was nice. The Ricotta worked well with the firm and resilient bun. The Beef and Rice Piroshki on the other hand was a bit bland. I thought it could have done with a bit more salt.

Definitely a great place to visit for a quick snack and to sample some Russian cuisine!
