Noodle Kingdom

Noodle Kingdom isn’t the nicest place I’ve seen. When we were going to our table, I noticed grease marks on one of the chairs I was about to sit at. I then decided to sit at the table next to it and that chair had even more grease marks. I knew it was going to be a bad experience. Located on Gouger Street, this restaurant offers all your traditional Chinese dishes. The decor was basic and the staff were OK, but many of them had a poor understanding of English.

Tonight we ordered the Special Chinese Snack Set which consisted of 14 individual items. The meals started arriving not long after ordering. The first meal to arrive was the Steamed Shanghai Pork Dumplings. We thought this was part of the snack set but apparently the waiter added an extra dish to the order. The dumplings themselves weren’t that great. The pork was fatty and the dumplings tasted bland.

The Spring Rolls were freshly fried but saturated in oil. The Pan Fried Pork Dumplings were OK but I felt the skin on them was a bit thick. The Steamed Mushroom Dumpling was well seasoned and tasty. The Noodle with Pork Sauce was delicious but again, a bit too oily. The Sour and Spicy Bean Jelly was just too spicy.

While this place may seem like good value for money, I felt a majority of the dishes were too oily. The table we were sitting at and the table next to it were filthy. Combined with the fact that we had to pay for a dish we did not order, I was not overly impressed. Would I come back to this place? Never.
