Matsuri

Matsuri has to be one of the best Japanese restaurants in Adelaide. Located on the first floor of a three storey building on Gouger Street, this place offers all your traditional Japanese fare. Diners have the choice of sitting at a small bar, normal dining tables or on the floor. With the restaurant decked out traditionally and the waitresses walking around in kimono’s, you almost feel like you’re in Japan. The staff here are warm and inviting, and the service is exceptional.

Tonight we ordered the large boat, which is a selection of sushi and sashimi presented on a beautiful wooden boat. The meals came out not long after ordering and it was delicious. The salmon, kingfish and tuna were all fresh. The eel was perfectly marinated. There was a large selection of sushi and each was freshly made. The quality, presentation and taste of the food here was simply outstanding.

I really love this place. The quality, the presentation, the service and the atmosphere were all exceptional. I found it very hard to find any fault with this place. Wow! Just wow! Look no further than this place for Japanese food.

  1. Hate to be “that person”, but it’s interesting that the restaurant’s name is Matsuri, meaning festival. Especially when you consider that yakisoba noodles and okonomiyaki are more commonly found at festivals in Japan than sushi is.
