I often come to Casablabla for the Paella and Salsa deal. One free salsa class for every Paella purchased on a Tuesday night. The Paella was $15, so considering I pay that much for a salsa lesson anyway, it is a pretty good deal.
Tonight, I ordered the Seafood and Chorizo Paella. The meals came out after a 15 minute wait and all meals arrived at the same time. They do Paella really well here. Each piece of rice was dry and separate, and so full of flavour. Cooked in small but proper Paella pans, the dish was consistently cooked throughout. The distribution of heat during the cooking is a lot easier with a smaller pan. The King Prawns, Squid and Mussels were perfectly cooked and the vegetables were soft and delicate. The dish was bordering on the spicy side, but that’s the way I like it!

The service was definitely a lot better than I remember it. Our glasses were being constantly refilled and our plates were cleared as soon as we finished eating. After dinner we were treated to a free salsa class which was very enjoyable. Taught by two respected Latin dance instructors from Latino Grooves, a fun night was had by all. The class was not a normal lesson, but more of a casual one, but it’s great for those who want a taste of Latin dancing.
If you have nothing better to do on a Tuesday, I suggest you put your dancing shoes on and come to Casablabla.
