No need to climb Mt Everest for Nepalese tucker, it’s all here at the Himalayan Kitchen. Located on the northern end of Melbourne Street, this cosy little restaurant offers all your Nepalese favourites. To remind us of where we are, the place is decorated with pictures of the Himalayas. The staff are warm and inviting. The atmosphere is relaxing. You can smell the beautiful aromas coming from the kitchen.
On this occasion, I ordered the Sherpa Lamb Curry. The lamb was cooked beautifully. The meat was so succulent, tender and full of flavour. The lamb falls apart as you eat it. The potato had been cooked long enough for the spices to fuse into it. My only complaint was the serving size. My curry bowl was half full and I was paying a similar price to other places where I have curry. Not impressed!

After the meal, the staff brought out singing bowls for everyone to play with. This was fun and it improved the dining experience. Does this place make great Nepalese food? Yes they do. Do the dishes represent good value for money? I’m afraid not.
