Mandoo

I’ve been to Mandoo several times and I must say their dumplings are pretty good. Located in a small store on Bank Street, the place is always packed at lunch time. With what appears to be a family run business, the staff are warm and inviting and it’s impressive to see the dumplings made in front of you.

On this occasion, I went for the Steamed Pork Mandoo. The dumplings were delicious and tasty, particularly when soaked in that dipping sauce. I love how the pork is finely minced and mixed with the vermicelli. The kim chi, mashed potato, salad and pickles all work well together when you alternate with every bite of the dumplings. When I ran out of kim chi, the staff kindly gave me more kim chi free of charge.

While the dumplings were enough to satisfy the hunger, I can’t help feel I’m not getting value for money for the price I’m paying. I know I can get 15 dumplings at another store for a bit less than what I’m paying here. Overall, the service is exceptional, the menu is simple and what they have to offer is pretty good. I guess I shouldn’t really complain.
