The decor is fairly basic with lots of neutral colours. I didn’t eat in the dining area on this particular occasion as the best natural light for the food photography was in the courtyard.

For dinner, I ordered the Angus Beef Burger which contained lettuce, tomato, egg, onion and beetroot. The meal was ready after a 15 minute wait and was average in presentation. The bun wasn’t even symmetrically cut, and the burger looked very basic.

The beef patty was tender, however, the meat wasn’t very well refined and it tasted like it was supermarket bought. The egg was fried sunny side up which is just the way I like it. I don’t mind runny egg yolk combining with all the other ingredients. The tomato was ripe and the lettuce was fresh and crisp. The natural sweetness of the caramelised onion worked well with the beetroot. The bun was soft and firm enough to hold all the ingredients. The meal came with a side of chips which was nice and crunchy, and adequately salted.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was reasonable. The cost of the burger was $13.50, which is good value considering it’s $21 at one of their nearby sister pubs. Having said that, the burger was basic and average in taste.

If you’re looking for a trendy renovated pub, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for an awesome burger, this isn’t the place to go either, but if you’re looking for a meal after a day at the races, then this is the place to be.
