Froth & Fodder is a hipster cafe, located within a small group of shops, behind a shopping complex in Kurralta Park. Every time I’ve driven past this place, the cafe is always full, so that’s usually a sign that they’re doing something right. Their food offerings can be summarised as 7 brunch items, 3 salads and 5 types of burgers which are served until 3pm. Just the sight of the word “burger” had me won over and I already knew what I was going to have for lunch.

The decor here has a vintage style about it with fold out chairs and cafe style tables. The connected light fittings remind me of something you would see in an outdoor space. The furnishings are not too crammed and the whole space is very inviting.

For lunch, I ordered the F & F Burger. The meal came out 15 minutes after ordering and was nicely presented on a circular white plate. The burger is big and will easily satisfy most appetites.
The beef patty was nice and thick, and it’s diameter was slightly smaller than the bun. The meat was well seasoned and juicy but slightly overcooked. The bacon strips could have been fried until crispy or have had their fat removed, both of which would have been acceptable. Instead, I was biting into fatty bacon which I’m not too fond of.
The tomato slices were ripe and juicy, while the lettuce was fresh and crisp. The star of the show was the chipotle aioli. It really packed a lot of heat, but at the same time, it brought all the ingredients together to create a delicious burger. The toasted sour dough roll was firm and held all the ingredients in well.
The chunky thick cut chips were nice and crispy, and adequately salted.

The staff were friendly and the service was very good. Drinks arrived promptly and my plate was cleared as I finished. The atmosphere was fairly laid back and the pricing was fairly average. The cost of the burger was 17.50 which is what you pay at cafes and pubs. Having said that, the ingredients were of a high quality, and it was almost a perfect burger.
Some of these small cafes down side streets are real hidden gems, and this is one of them. I look forward to trying some of their other food offerings in the future.
