Indochine Noodle Bar is located on the popular Jetty Road cafe precinct. Serving up a pan-Asian menu, the influences include Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai and Singaporean. The dishes include proteins which are wok tossed or char grilled, or alternatively, there is a selection of noodle or rice dishes. Like all good eateries, they have a lunch time with prices which are more palatable.

With a long skinny open floor plan, the establishment is deceptively spacious, but can easily accommodate 100 people. The bifold doors allow the outdoor dining area to flow seamlessly into the indoor dining space. The use of a mirror at the back gives the illusion of space, while the bright colour combinations add a sense of vibrancy to the place.

For lunch, I ordered the Thai Red Beef Curry. The dish was ready after a 15 minute wait and was nicely presented. The beef strips were lean, however, they were a little too tenderised. It was as though baking soda was used to tenderise the meat. While the texture of the meat is nice and silky, most of the nutrients are lost during this tenderising process. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, and the curry sauce was well balanced with a nice after kick.

My friend ordered the Seafood Laksa. The noodles were nice and firm, and the vegetables were perfectly cooked. The prawns were a little over done, while the scallops were tender and succulent. The coconut based soup was well balanced with plenty of depth.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. Drinks arrived promptly and the meals took an average time to arrive. The atmosphere was relaxed with the outdoor area perfect for a warm Summer day. The lunchtime menu options range from $9.50-$11 which is fairly good value considering it was a decent serving size and the quality of the meal was above average. Looking at the normal menu prices, they are fairly average with the mains starting at $15.90.
