Phuket Thai is one of the few Thai restaurants that I haven’t been to, however, it was comforting to see a TV personality and a few friends dining at the establishment during my first visit. The menu is extensive and authentic with all your traditional Thai favourites. Deciding what to order proved to be the most difficult part of the night.

The decor is neat and well presented with enough seating for about 35 downstairs. The white table cloths give this place a touch of elegance, and the seating is quite comfortable. With the dining area taking up the front half of the premises, there is plenty of natural light flowing through making this place light and airy.

As an entree, we had the Spring Rolls. The skin was nice and crunchy, and the filling was moist and well cooked. The Spring Rolls tasted quite good on their own, but they tasted even better in the home made sweet and sour sauce.

As a main, I ordered the Massaman Beef. The beef was lean and tender, and the meat simply fell apart with the touch of the spoon. The potatoes were soft and delicate, and the flavours were well infused. The sauce had a nice thick consistency and the peanuts provided a crunchy texture. This dish was very well executed.

My friend ordered the Pad Thai. The rice noodles were firm and well cooked, while the chicken was tender and succulent. The scrambled egg was evenly distributed, and the bean sprouts and peanuts added a nice crunchy texture. The only issue my friend had with this dish was that it was loaded with spring onion. She said it over powered the entire dish.

The staff were friendly and the service was very good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was average. The Spring Rolls were $8.80, the Beef Massaman $19.50 and the Pad Thai $15.80.
I quite enjoyed the dishes that I had and thought they were very well executed. It was a shame my friend’s Pad Thai didn’t meet her standards.
