Eating out all the time allows me to see what the current food trends are. This year, there have been many new Persian and Vietnamese eateries open up, and the number is steadily increasing. The latest to join the Persian bandwagon is 4 Seasons on Henley Beach Road. Their simple and straight forward menu offers kebabs, wraps, burgers and a selection of authentic Persian snacks and dishes. They even have a small selection of desserts that I’ve had before.

This quaint little store is very nicely presented. The patterned chairs, glass tables and chandeliers almost give this place a luxurious feel. The intricate columns, the wall hung ornaments and the teapot add a touch of traditionality. This place surprisingly fits 30 people, although I imagine it would be a little cramped when there’s a full house. With floor to ceiling windows, there’s plenty of natural light flowing through it’s frontage.

For dinner, I ordered the 4 Seasons Salmon. The dish came out after a 20 minute wait which was a bit longer than expected, however, I was told it was a fresh piece of salmon being slowly cooked in the oven.
The salmon fillet was a good size and it was baked to a dark golden brown. The flesh was soft and delicate, and the skin nice and crunchy. The fish was well flavoured and very approachable, however, it was full of pin bones which weren’t removed properly. The dish came a selection of fresh and steamed vegetables which weren’t flavoured.

The Persian Bread was considerably large, however, it was cold, tough and chewy. They should have saved their “dough” and not brought this out.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was good value for money. The cost of my dish was $10 which is great value considering you pay something in the mid 20’s for a salmon fillet of the same size at a restaurant. The kebab skewers work out to be around $8 each, which is about the price for all their other dishes. The most expensive dish on the menu is $15 for the lamb shank, but even that isn’t over the top.
The salmon dish wasn’t too bad, it just wasn’t well executed. Not the best Persian place I’ve been to, but not the worst either.
