I’ve driven past Mister Sunshine’s on many occasion and it’s always struck me as a local corner store eatery that provides meals to nearby workers.
Once you actually step inside, the place has a warm, cosy homely feel about it. The menu is simple and straight forward with 7 breakfast and 6 lunch time options. The point of difference here is that there is an emphasis on fresh wholesome foods that are home made and use locally sourced ingredients.

For lunch, I ordered the Beef and Chorizo Burger which contains beetroot relish, horseradish cream and baby spinach. The dish came out 10 minutes after ordering and was nicely presented.
The beef and chorizo are not separate components in the burger but a minced up combination inside a patty. The burger patty was well marinated and perfectly cooked. The meat was tender and succulent with tender juices dripping out of the burger. The patty was roughly one centimetre thick and the diameter was the same as the bun.
While the menu mentions that the burger contains baby spinach, what I got in my burger was rocket. It was however, fresh and crisp, and added a nice crunchy texture. The sweet intense flavour of the horseradish cream complemented the natural sweetness of the beetroot relish. The bun was soft and firm, and held all the ingredients in well.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. Drinks arrived promptly and my plate was cleared as I finished. The atmosphere was relaxed with the nice tunes playing in the background. The cost of the burger set me back $12 which is fairly average, however, you won’t pay more than $12 for anything on the menu.
Verdict: They make nice homestyle burgers here without all the fanciness that you get at a gourmet burger joint.
