With the popularity of well known burger joints Relish’d and Enuf Burger Bar in the Glenelg area, I wasn’t surprised to find two more places down Jetty Road with similar offerings. Feed was previously known as an all day breakfast place but has since become part of the burger frenzy. Counting 10 different types of burgers on their menu, I could see a few classics, however, items such as the Mongolian Beef Burger, Tandoori Chicken Burger or the Deep Sea Hooked Burger, you’d be hard pressed to find anywhere else.

The place is neat and well presented. It doesn’t have the industrial look that I’m used to, but it still has a cosy relaxed vibe about it. There are about 24 seats inside and few more out on the pavement. The seating is divided between normal seating, communal seating and lower level seating to one side.

As tempted as I was to order a burger, I was wearing a suit and I didn’t want to make too much of a mess of myself. As an alternative, I ordered the AB, but from the description, I knew I was going to get something wildly different.
The classic AB is lamb yiros meat on a bed of chips smothered in garlic, chilli and tomato sauce. The Feed version of the AB has a beef ragu with melted cheese and chips.
The dish came out 15 minutes after ordering and had good presentation. Visually, it looked like chips with bolognese sauce. The beef ragu contained mince that was well refined with no gristly bits. The sauce had a thick consistency with a natural sweetness coming from the tomato. Under the sauce was melted mozzarella which was stringy and gooey. The chips were the thin variety and were fried to a crisp golden brown.
As a dish, it wasn’t too bad, however, it wasn’t the true definition of an AB.

The staff were friendly but I noticed differences in service levels. Some customers received table service, while others like myself, had to go to the counter to order. The atmosphere was relaxed and their pricing is fairly reasonable. My dish set me back $8.50, while the average cost of a meal is around the $13 mark. Fairly good value for a store down Jetty Road.
Verdict: I’ll have to come back to check out their burgers next time.

That’s odd about the customer service?!
