The Cheesecake Shop was first franchised 21 years ago with over 200 stores opened within their first five years. These days, there’s a store in every state of Australia and New Zealand, with new expansions into the United Kingdom and Poland.
The Torrensville store is situated on a nice corner position amongst other shops and eateries. There’s not much by the way of indoor seating with several narrow bar stools, but their outdoor undercover seating is plentiful.
As their name suggests, cheesecakes are their specialty, however, they also do mudcakes, tortes, gateauxs and a wide range of other desserts.

Today, I ordered their Chocolate Caramel Slice. The topping was a thick layer of chocolate with drizzles of caramel, while the base was made from rice bubbles which was very dry. I think the base just ruined the slice as it just didn’t taste very good at all.

The Cake Pop is a ball of chocolate fudge dipped in chocolate. The fudge was rich and decadent, and the chocolate outer layer was simply icing on the cake.

The staff were friendly and the service was fast and efficient. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing of their sweets is reasonable. The slice set me back $1 and the cake pop was $2 which is really spare change. Their whole cakes are a bit more expensive with prices ranging from $25 to $31, but if you slice up a cake into 8 slices, that works out to $3-$4 a slice which is still good.
