When the weather is wet and wintery, there’s nothing like going to a fast food take away store for some comfort food. Just outside the city on Sir Donald Bradman Drive is Hilton Seafood and Yiros. From the outside, it looks like your average suburban store, however, the inside is spacious, modernised and well presented. The menu is typical of your local take away store with fish and chips, burgers, yiros, salads, hot dogs and steak sandwiches on offer.
For lunch, I ordered the Yiros and Chips Pack which is just lamb, chips, onion and garlic sauce. You can often tell how busy a place is by whether they have yiros meat cooking on the rotisserie. Straight after ordering, I was disappointed to see the lamb yiros meat taken out of the fridge and reheated on the grill. The meal was ready after a 12 minute wait and was average in presentation.
The lamb was well marinated and tender, however some morsels were fatty and some bits were still cold. The garlic sauce was conservatively applied and a little bit runny, however, it was nice and garlicky. The chips were well cooked; nice and crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy in the centre. The quality of the chips was decent and an adequate amount of salt was applied. The dish as a whole was a bit dry.

The staff were friendly and the service was fast and efficient. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing is fairly reasonable. The cost of my meal was $11.50, with the average cost of their menu items being around the $10 mark.
My meal was average at best and nothing to write home about.
