Cafe Froot is one of the numerous places along Semaphore Road where you can sit down and have breakfast. What makes this place different is that you can order breakfast at any hour of the day. There are over a dozen breakfast options with nothing too overly complicated. There is a lunch and dinner menu which is smaller in size and slightly more expensive.

The decor at this place is very casual and funky, and I particularly like the consistent use of bright orange. The counter area doesn’t take up too much space which allows more customers to dine in. There’s a fair amount of natural light that flows in which gives this place a casual relaxed vibe.

For lunch, I ordered the Open Steak Sandwich. The meal arrived 15 minutes after ordering and was nicely presented, although I did notice there was only one piece of bread. The sirloin steak was tender and succulent, and was about one centimetre thick. The size of the steak covered the entire area of the bread which was good.
The egg was cooked sunny side up with the yolk perfectly runny. The mushrooms were soft and delicate, while the lettuce was fresh and crisp. The sweetness from the roasted capsicum complemented that of the onion jam, and the underlying bread was nicely toasted. The chips were the French fry variety that were nice and crunchy.
While this dish had all the elements of being something spectacular, it tasted very bland with notes of sweetness from the onion jam and capsicum coming through.

My friend had the Banana and Cinnamon Pancakes and was very pleased. She’s a regular at this place and only comes for the pancakes.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was reasonable. My meal set me back $14.90 which is about the average price for their lunch and dinner menu. The average price for their breakfast menu is around the $10 mark which is pretty good.
My meal wasn’t that great, but perhaps I should have been ordering something from the breakfast menu.
