Rosey’s

Located down the popular Unley Road cafe precinct is a brunch destination called Rosey’s. This place prides itself on using organic and locally sourced produce, which is reflected on their all day breakfast menu. I thought their lunch menu was a bit limited with only 4 items to choose from. The establishment is fully licensed with cocktails, wines and beers available to have with your meal.

The establishment is quaint and the decor is quirky. Some points of interest are the dangling bottles that are held by ropes above the front counter and the low hanging light fittings made from jars. Of course, I didn’t notice this until I left, but the knife door handle really takes the cake.

For lunch, I ordered the Bruschetta with onion jam, roast pumpkin, goats curd and rocket. The meal took 30 minutes to arrive, which was way too long for such a simple dish, however, it was nicely presented.

The goats curd was like a tangy cream cheese with low levels of saltiness. It was well balanced by the subtle sweetness of the onion jam. The roast pumpkin was soft and delicate, and had a natural sweetness of it’s own. The rocket was fresh and crisp, and the toasted bread was slightly on the chewy side. I thought this dish may be improved with the addition of pine nuts to give it a crunchier texture.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. Drinks arrived promptly, and napkins and cutlery were brought out after ordering, however, the meal took too long to arrive. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was average. The cost of my meal was $15 which seems to be the going rate down Unley Road. Taking into account the high cost of rent, it’s a fair price. The dish wasn’t too bad but I’ve had better.
