Australia’s Pizza House – CBD – West Terrace

Australia’s Pizza House is a chain that has been around for a while and currently has 7 stores across the state. At one point they used to pride themselves for being able to offer cheap gourmet pizzas because they didn’t deliver, but I noticed 3 of their stores, including this one, now do. These days, their pizzas come in 3 sizes; medium (9 inch), large (12 inch) and family (15 inch) and there are 2 types of crusts available; traditional and wholemeal, all of which are the same thickness.

Today, I ordered a medium Pepperoni Pizza. The pizza was ready 10 minutes after ordering and was average in presentation. The cheese was conservatively applied and the amount of pepperoni was barely satisfactory. There were exactly 9 pieces of pepperoni on my pizza which were not distributed properly. I expect to taste pepperoni with every bite of pizza, yet there were some slices with none. The tomato base had a bit of sourness to it and the pizza base was consistently thick, similar to a pan pizza, but less oily.

The staff were friendly, and the service was fast and efficient. The pizza set me back $4.90 which is a good price for a snack. I’ve noticed an inconsistency with the amount of toppings between stores. I’ve been to this particular store many times and they are consistently conservative with the toppings. Their pizzas are cheaper than what you get at a cafe and some of the their topping combinations are quite good. Don’t come here expecting great pizza, but rather something that is cheap and gets you full.
