Modinetti

My friend works nearby and I’m always working out where our next lunch destination is along Henley Beach Road. I’ve driven past Modinetti on several occasions and I thought it was time to check them out.

The venue is somewhat cosy with around 20 seats cramped closely together in the front section. There a couple of seats outside and I understand there was more seating at the back. The menu is fairly simple and straight forward. It’s broken up into several sections comprising of breakfast, entrees and mains.

For lunch, I ordered the Penne Ragu. The meal came out after a 20 minute wait and was nicely presented. The serving size was surprisingly generous. The beef was lean and tender, and full of flavour. The pasta was perfectly cooked. Combined with the shredded parmesan cheese, this dish was heavenly.

My friend ordered the Pea Burger. The patty is a pea, potato, caramelised onion and mozzarella frittata which is then combined with lettuce and aioli. I thought the frittata tasted bland and both my friend and I didn’t like it.

The staff were really friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed, although the place can get crowded with all the people sitting down and standing in line. My Penne Ragu was outstanding and I wouldn’t hesitate coming back for the same dish. The Pea Burger I’d probably skip.
