I’ve read that Betel Leaf Cafe makes one of the best Roast Pork Rolls in Adelaide, and today, I was here to find out for myself.

Betel Leaf Cafe is located on Grange Road in Seaton. The venue looks deceptively small, however it has the capacity to comfortably seat 40. The decor is modern and well presented, with prominent use of greens and browns that give the place a relaxed vibe. While there are 10 different fillings to choose from in their Vietnamese rolls, they also have an extensive list of Vietnamese dishes to choose from. Whether it be salads, soups, vermicelli noodles, rice dishes or main dishes, there really is something for everyone.

For lunch, I ordered the Roast Pork Roll. The roll was put together behind the counter and was at my table within 5 minutes of ordering. The pork was well marinated, tender and succulent. The amount of meat was quite generous and there was a good combination of lean pork and crunchy skin. The pickled diakon and carrot was tangy and sweet, while the fresh cucumber added a nice crunchy texture. The fresh chilli packed a bit of heat but it just made each bite even more exciting. The bread roll was nice and crusty, and overall it was very well executed.

The staff were friendly and the service was fast and efficient. The atmosphere was relaxed even with the busy lunch hour rush. My Roast Pork roll set me back $6 which is a bit higher than their competitors, but considering the quality of ingredients and the amount of filling they put in, it’s actually worth it. In fact, most of the dishes on their menu are reasonable in price.

Verdict: One of the best Roast Pork rolls in Adelaide.
