There are so many stores offering Vietnamese rolls in the western suburbs. I see this as a positive thing as the competition keeps prices low and customers get a better product. Cha Phu Xuong is a store in a small shopping complex on Hanson Road. The selling point at this place is their rolls start at $3.80.
The Combination Roll is one of the best I’ve ever tasted. It’s simply packed full of ingredients, everything was falling out as I was trying to eat it. The roast pork was tasty and well marinated. If that isn’t enough protein, the roll also contains pork ham and fermented pork. The fermented pork was particularly good as it added a nice sourness. The pickled diakon radish and carrot added a nice crunchy texture, while the cucumber and coriander were fresh. The chilli they use really packs some heat and the bread roll was fresh and crusty.
What makes their rolls so good? They have spread one side of the roll with egg mayonnaise and the other side with pate. This creates a complex flavour that is quite delicious.

The Roast Pork roll wasn’t too bad, but having the Combination Roll first, really set the benchmark, and it was always going to be difficult to beat.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. The pricing is fairly reasonable and around the same price as their competitors.
Verdict: The Combination Roll is simply amazing.
