I could have a field day with all the innuendo related to the name of this place, but I’m just not in the mood.
Big Wang BBQ is located on Morphett Street, metres away from Whitmore Square. The signage at this place isn’t great with a just sticker on the main window displaying its name. They also need make an online presence as there is very little information about this place. The decor is fairly basic as it is just an open room full of tables and chairs. There’s the odd picture and LCD TV screen on the walls, but otherwise this place is kind of boring. They do have a bit of colour coordination happening with regards to the furnishings, floor covering and walls.
As their name suggests, a lot of their menu offerings are barbecued products. The place just smells amazing when you walk in and the great thing is they’re cooking it for you out in the kitchen. This means you don’t smell like the food when you leave this place. Apart from that, they also have a selection of salads and mains to provide some variety.

The Garlic Chicken was amazing. The meat was well marinated, tender and succulent. I could have 10 of these.

The Honey Chicken was also amazing. Again, the meat was well tender and succulent.

The Beef and Lamb were both disappointing. The meat was over cooked and tasted bland. I didn’t have the Prawns so I can’t comment.

The Fried Rice took forever too come out. I was hoping to have my protein with the Fried Rice but that never happened. The Fried Rice was oily and tasted bland.

The following are the dishes the group had. A lot of the dishes were very spicy with the exception of the Chinese Buns and the Fried Noodle dishes. It all comes down to what heat level you can take, but everyone was generally happy with their meals.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. I didn’t like the fact that meals came out at different times. The atmosphere was relaxed, even with the busy Saturday night dinner rush. The pricing is reasonable with the total cost of my dinner being $12. Mind you, I could have eaten a lot more.
Verdict: Great place to come if you like spicy barbecued food with their chicken skewers being a major highlight.
