You know a place is good when there’s always a line up of customers waiting to dine in. Either that, or the place is too small.
Grind It is located on Moseley Street, just off Jetty Road as you head towards the beach. The place is small, although I think you could cram 50 skinny people into this venue. There are several communal benches, booths and window seats for patrons to choose from. While they’ve made efficient use of the space for seating, I thought there was barely enough table space for drinks and food.
For lunch, I ordered the Po Boy. The meal was ready after a 20 minute wait and was nicely presented. The slow cooked pulled pork was tender and well marinated, and a little on the sweet side. The amount of meat was rather conservative, but you couldn’t visually tell. The roll was nice and shiny, just like the buns they use at gourmet burger places, and this was also sweet. The slaw salad that they used provided a nice crunchy texture and I thought the use of apple was interesting as it provided a natural sweetness. The use of pickles on the side also provided more balance to the dish as it counteracted the sweetness.

These are the dishes my friends had and there were no complaints.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. Drinks were brought out promptly and constantly refilled. Plates were cleared as we finished. The atmosphere was vibrant due to the popularity of this place, although we didn’t have trouble talking to one another. The pricing varies depending on what you get. The baguettes were $9, while my Po Boy was $16, which I thought was slightly higher than average. The meal was a considerable size, although they were conservative with the pork and the dish itself was bordering on a dessert.
Verdict: Perhaps their coffee and breakfasts are better because I didn’t see it in the dish I ordered. Might have to give this place a second try but order something else.

I don’t like when a place is too small and just crammed from end to end with people while you’re trying to enjoy your food. I’ve been in those before.
