Amici Pizza Cafe

Amici Pizza Cafe is located on Frederick Road within a small shopping complex. The decor at this place is nothing fancy. The place is sparsely decorated with ceramic tiled flooring and basic tables and chairs. Their dine in facilities are a bit larger than most but most of their customers appear to be pickup and delivery. As their name suggests, pizzas are their specialty, however, they also have a selection of starters, pastas, mains, seafood dishes and salads.

Tonight, I ordered the Amici Special (ham, salami, mushroom, capsicum and olives). The pizza was ready after a 10 minute wait and was nicely presented. It was nice to see the pizza being freshly prepared as you looked over the counter. The toppings on the pizza were fresh and the amount was rather generous. The pizza base had a consistent thickness throughout and was nice and crunchy. The base wasn’t too thin and it wasn’t pan style. It was somewhere in between that was adequate enough to satisfy your midnight hunger cravings. The only thing I didn’t like about the pizza was the tomato base. One of their nearby competitors uses a tomato base that has plenty of depth, while this one, I couldn’t really taste.

The staff were friendly and the service was fast and efficient. The pricing is reasonable and is on par with their nearby competitors.

This place makes a pretty good pizza, however, I’ve had slightly better, but not by much. One nearby competitor provides heaps of toppings and the other has a better tomato base sauce. Having said that, they do much everything right.
