Grenfell Plaza is becoming a hive of activity with all the new eateries that are opening along the corridor. Turi is one of the latest to open it’s doors offering authentic Sicilian cuisine. The menu is a melting pot of Arabic, Middle Eastern and Turkish inspired flavours with specialties including Arancini and Ragu. The place has an industrial warehouse style about it with exposed ceilings and polished concrete floors. There’s also a practical aspect with chalk boards on many of the surfaces.
Today, I ordered the Chicken Focaccia. The meal was ready after a 10 minute wait and was nicely presented. The chicken was moist and tender, and nicely cooked. The chicken was dressed in a tangy mayonnaise which stopped it from being too dry. The lettuce was fresh and crunchy, however, it became a bit hot from being under the grill. The focaccia bread was nice and firm, and the serving was of a good size.

My friend had the Ham Focaccia and had no complaints.

We were given a free sample of Panelle which are chickpea fritters. To me, it was like a cross between fried tofu and a fried potato chip. They could have done with a bit more salt in my opinion.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was pretty good. The atmosphere was relaxed, even with the busy lunchtime crowds. The pricing is fair with most of the meals costing under $20. The focaccias cost just under $10 and they were nice and filling.
Looking back, I could have tried some of their more authentic dishes. I guess I’ll have to come back to this place again!
