I’ve driven past Vietnam Sunrise so many times without giving this place much thought. The black exterior just makes this place uninviting, however once you walk in, it is a pleasant surprise. The restaurant is open plan with beautifully polished timber floorboards and imposing high ceilings. On one main wall, there is a mural that gives this place some authenticity, while the red, white and black colour scheme really works. The menu offers all your traditional Vietnamese favourites, many of which my parents cook at home.

Tonight, I ordered the Sizzling BBQ Steak. The food at this place comes out quick. In just over 5 minutes after ordering, all of our meals arrived. My dish was beautifully presented and the meal was just as good. The aroma from this dish had everyone salivating as the sizzling from the hot plate spread the aromas across the room. The steak was tenderised to an inch of its life and was very well marinated. The celery, baby corn, capsicum and onion were well cooked, and the sauce had a subtle sweetness.

The following are the dishes ordered by my fellow dining companions. Everybody was very happy with their meals, although one friend had a few minor criticisms.

According my friend, the prawns were not peeled properly and there was presence of some shell. She also felt it was very spicy even though she was told it wouldn’t be.

The staff were friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The service was excellent. Drinks arrived on time, plates were cleared and the staff looked happy to be there. The atmosphere was relaxed. This place does a roaring trade with all of their 100 plus seats filled when we were there. The pricing is fair with most main meals just under $20.
I was quite impressed with this place. They did just about everything right and personally, I could find very little to fault. I would definitely come back here and would recommend it to others. It’s a classy restaurant that serves great food at a reasonable price.
