Corner Store Cafe

Tucked away in a leafy suburban street of Dulwich is a trendy eatery with a generic sounding name, the Corner Store. Judging by the number of people that frequent this place, you can already tell the food is good here. The size of the cafe doesn’t appear to be very large, but from what I could see, there was ample seating inside, outside the premises and in their outdoor garden. The decor is as modern as it can be with good use of whites and browns. The low hanging light fittings and the exposed brickwork gives this place a warehouse feel. The menu itself is simple with an emphasis on fresh locally sourced produce.

Yesterday, I ordered a Pastrami Baguette. Meals were served within 5 minutes of ordering and were nicely presented. The pastrami had a nice peppery taste with strong hints of garlic which is how it should be. The roasted capsicums had a nice subtle sweetness and the rocket was fresh and crisp. The cheese was firm, while the baguette had a nice tough crust with a much thinner interior. A few dashes of olive oil made all the ingredients works really well together. Probably one of the tastiest baguettes I’ve ever eaten!

My friend had the Chicken Focaccia. She said it was really good and was quite content.

The staff were friendly and inviting from the moment we walked in. The service was fantastic with staff grinning from ear to ear from start to finish. The atmosphere was a relaxed one, and the pricing is a bit higher than average. My baguette was $12.50 which is slightly a bit more than what I usually pay. Having said that, the quality and taste were quite good so it made it all worth it.

This place is a hidden gem on the outskirts of the city, and is perfect for that lazy weekend brunch. I was quite impressed with this place and will certainly be back.
