Caffe Primo North Adelaide is one of the newer franchise store openings for this popular chain. There are so many stores around Adelaide, the person selling the franchises is laughing all the way to the bank. Anyway, I digress. The decor here is fairly standard with your commercial chairs and tables. The combination of neutral and earthy colour tones, and the natural light that comes in from two frontages gives this place a nice cosy feel. There’s plenty of seating both inside and out, which is perfect for the Melbourne Street cafe precinct.
For dinner, I went for one of their $13.90 meal deals and ordered a Primo Pizza. The pizza came out after a 15 minute wait and was nicely presented. The size of the pizza was 10 inches which is more than enough for one person. I’m not usually one to complain about too many toppings but they went completely overboard with the Spanish onion. They also left the fat on the bacon which I find very annoying. If you’re going to leave the fat on the bacon, make sure it’s nice and crispy. They put the prosciutto on top of the pizza so that was really crunchy, while the salami and pepperoni hiding underneath wasn’t. I guess there’s nothing they could have done about that. The tomato was fresh and the basil gave the pizza good depth. The crust had a nice thickness, however, it was way too oily. The pizza was certainly filling as I struggled to finish it.

Now, German Princess had the Seafood Platter. She said there was too much batter on the fish and the creamy garlic prawns weren’t to her liking. The calamari was nice and the chips were cooked to perfection. The salad that came with her dish was limp. She rated it as below average.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing is reasonable for the amount you get. Unfortunately, the quality of the dishes isn’t that great. It’s one of those places where you get what you pay for.
