The Falafel House is not the prettiest of places, and for that reason, I’ve always walked past it and never into it. Located on seedy Hindley Street, this store is open practically all hours of the day and is the perfect location for that hangover cure. The most prominent items on the menu are falafels, yiros and meltdowns. They also have a selection of sweets behind the counter cabinet.
Today, I ordered a Lamb Meltdown. This is lamb yiros meat, garlic, chilli and tomato sauce on a bed of chips. The lamb was lean and a generous amount was provided, however, the meat was dry and it tasted bland. The garlic sauce had a nice thick consistency and the chips were a crunchy golden brown. The chilli sauce that they used had no kick and I could hardly tell it was there.

The staff were quite friendly and the service was good. With only one person running the entire store, I thought they did well with the busy lunch time rush. The atmosphere was relaxed, however, I’m sure it’s not like this on a weekend evening. The pricing was quite reasonable, considering other places charge up to 50% more for an equivalent dish.
This place was OK for me.
