Vegie Village is a small Malay vegetarian eatery located in the western part of the city. The place is basically decorated with IKEA tables, chairs and glasses, and seats a maximum of 25 people. There’s a good variety of dishes on their menu and enough to satisfy the pickiest of vegetarians. The staff are nice and friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed.
Today, I ordered the Nasi Lemak. The dish was ready within 10 minutes and was nicely presented. The vegetarian beef curry was nicely spiced and had plenty of kick. The texture of the vegetarian beef was a bit rubbery, but what do you expect from faux beef? The cucumber was fresh and crunchy, and the pickled vegetables were tangy and sour. The steamed rice was a bit softer than I would have liked it.

Not bad for a vegetarian place. The Nasi Lemak would have been better had it used real meat, but it was a good healthy alternative. Would I come back? Probably not, but only because it’s a vegetarian place, and not because of the experience.
