After reading some reviews on this place, I was telling myself never to come here. Subconsciously, I did want to come here, as it’s a dessert bar that I’ve yet to review. So after dinner tonight, when one member of the group wanted Asian desserts, I decided we should go to Sweety.

The dessert bar is located in a room upstairs and serves both Western and Asian desserts. The decor is very basic and straight out of the 90’s. Christmas trees are such a pain to setup and take down each year, they have one in the venue all year round.

Tonight, I ordered the Tia Maria Cheesecake. The dessert came out 15 minutes after ordering and was nicely presented. The cheesecake was baked and tasted absolutely awesome. The cheesecake was soft and delicate, and simply melted in your mouth. The biscuit base was nice and firm, and had a subtle chocolate flavour.

My friend was unable to finish her Chocolate Almond Spring Rolls, so I had the opportunity to try one. Personally, I didn’t like it. There was an odour of vegetable oil in the spring roll skin and I felt this didn’t work with the chocolate filling.

Unlike the others, the service that I experienced was quite good. The waitress spoke broken English, so communication was difficult at times, but other than that, I found the staff to be very friendly. The atmosphere was quite relaxed as there were very few people there. Considering other dessert bars are charging up to $22 for a slice of cheesecake, I felt the $8 I paid was more than reasonable.

I think this place might be a bit of hit and miss, and it will largely depend on when you go there, how busy it is, who is working there and what you order. For me and my group, we found the experience quite enjoyable. Not a fan of the Chocolate Almond Spring Rolls, but definitely a fan of the Tia Maria Cheesecake!
