I was quite impressed when I walked into Captain Chicken. The store is modern with nice clean lines. The yellow colour scheme really works well with their stainless steel kitchen. With wall mounted flat screen TVs and modern touch screen cash registers, I felt like I was in the chicken store of the future.

Today, I decided to order the Roast Chicken with Chips, Vegetables and Gravy.

CHICKEN – There’s nothing like eating freshly cooked roast chicken just taken off the rotisserie. The meat was so tender, succulent and juicy. The chicken was still piping hot. The chicken skin was nice and crispy, but not over cooked. The chicken stuffing was delicious and perfectly spiced.

CHIPS – The chips were of a nice thick cut and were fried to perfection. Nice and crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. A generous amount was also provided.

VEGETABLES – Nothing to write home about here. Just two types of vegetables; peas and carrots. I’m guessing they bought frozen vegetables from the supermarket next door. The carrots were hard to eat because they had an odd flavour about them. I couldn’t quite pick what it was but I didn’t like it.

GRAVY – The gravy was full of flavour with a nice thick consistency.

The pricing here is more than reasonable. The serving size of my meal was very generous and bar the carrots, it was a pretty satisfying meal. The staff were nice and friendly, and the service was pretty good. Not a bad place to go for a quick feed.
