The King’s Hotel is one of my locals and is conveniently located on the corner of Sturt Street and King William Street, just outside the City South tram stop. The pub offers all your traditional pub fare, and their food menu utilises a lot of locally sourced ingredients. The decor has a traditional English style and the service is pretty good.
Tonight, I ordered the Chicken Parmi. The meal came out 15 minutes after ordering and was well presented. The schnitzel was of a decent size and thickness, and perfectly cooked. The Napoletana sauce was rich in texture and had adequate coverage over the schnitzel. The mozzarella topping was generously applied and had spent an appropriate time under the grill.
The salad was fresh as the vegetables were crisp and crunchy. I liked the inclusion of capsicum in their salad as it added a new dimension. The salad dressing was so light, I didn’t even know it was there. The beer battered chips were fantastic. The chips were perfectly cooked and stacked up like a small mountain on my plate.

The atmosphere was relaxed and the pub itself is nice and spacious. I thought the price point was on the higher end for a schnitzel and because of that, I felt the schnitzel should have been larger. Don’t get me wrong, the meal was satisfying, but I’ve had larger servings for that price.
Not a bad pub. It’s one that I go to regularly and will certainly be back whenever I can.
