The Tap Inn is a themed pub that was created by the same people that opened the Bombay Bicycle Club. Within the maze of rooms, is a double storey golf driving range, a bunker beer garden, swing chairs, several bars and a restaurant.
On this occasion, a group of us dined at Birdies, which is the name of the restaurant inside the Tap Inn. The dining area was classically decorated with good use of timber furnishings. The atmosphere was relaxed and the service wasn’t too bad.
As I inspected the food menu, I wasn’t too sure about the Indian or Italian food offerings as I was dining at a pub. I thought I’d play it safe by ordering the Chicken Parmi. The food arrived 30 minutes after ordering and all meals arrived at about the same time.
The Chicken Parmi was average at best. The chicken was nicely cooked and of a suitable thickness, however, the circumference of the schnitzel was a bit small, particularly for the price being paid. The Napoletana sauce was rich in texture and it had suitable coverage over the schnitzel. The mozzarella topping was quite generous.
The chips were OK. I felt they were a bit on the soggy side and could have been cooked a bit longer. They were also conservative with the amount. I thought there were chips being squashed under the weight of the schnitzel, but I was wrong, there was hardly any there. The Greek salad was nice. The vegetables were fresh, although I felt they could have given me a bit more.

It really is a novelty to come to this place, particularly with all the different areas you can go to. But if I were to assess this place based on my meal, I’d have to say it was sadly disappointing. For the price point at the restaurant, I’d have to say I was expecting a bit more.
