Vietnam Kitchen

Vietnamese restaurants are plentiful in the Western suburbs, but few and far between in the city. Located on Pulteney Street at the South Terrace end is a cosy little restaurant called the Vietnam Kitchen. The place is decorated nicely and offers all your traditional Vietnamese dishes. The staff are warm and inviting, and the service was OK.

Tonight, I ordered the Beef Noodle Soup. My meal arrived 20 minutes after ordering, however, all meals arrived at different times. Some people in the group ordered entrees, and they came out with some of the mains. While people were eating their mains, the people who had their entrees were still waiting for theirs. I felt all the mains should have been brought out at the same time so everybody could eat together.

My Beef Noodle Soup was OK. The broth was piping hot when brought out, although I did notice a layer of oil on top. The broth itself was nice, although they may have added a bit too much MSG. The beef was lean and plentiful. The noodles were nice, but they were prepackaged and there wasn’t enough. The dish came with all the trimmings as you would expect.

I didn’t think the place was too bad. The prices were OK considering we were eating in the city. The staff allowed us to pay our bills individually and already prepared separate itemised bills. Give this place a go, but I must say, I have experienced better.
