Tapas is so popular in Adelaide at the moment. Situated close to where I live is Panacea. Located on Halifax Street, this beautifully decorated restaurant reminds me of when I was dining out in Barcelona. The rustic flooring, the outdoor canopy, and the spacious courtyard, all make for a cosy environment.
The service here was like chatting up a woman in a bar. If you played it cool, they would give you their attention, but if you wanted their attention, they would totally ignore you.
On this occasion we ordered several dishes to share. This consisted of the chickpeas, meatballs, cous cous salad, garfish fillets, portobello mushrooms and gnocchi. The dishes came out 15 minutes after ordering and at the same time.
The Chickpeas with Chorizo was nice. The chickpeas were firm and chorizo didn’t have too much fat in it.

The Pork and Veal meatballs were fantastic. The meatballs were perfectly cooked and the rich tomato sauce was particularly tasty.

The Cous Cous salad was refreshing and the use of sultanas was a nice touch.

The Portobello Mushrooms were ok but I felt there could have been more depth in the flavours.

The Gnocchi Romana was pretty good. Not the gnocchi that I’m used to, but the citrus and walnut salad added a new dimension to a traditional Italian favourite.

The Garfish fillets were ok although the fish was slightly overcooked.

Surprisingly enough, the final bill wasn’t too bad when you’re sharing dishes amongst a group. Overall, my dining experience here was quite pleasant and I have no hesitation in recommending people eat here.
