Wow! The Marquis is an elegant and stylish restaurant. Located towards the eastern end of Gouger Street, everything about this place just oozes style and substance. The restaurant is essentially a glass box where one half is a bar and the other half is the dining area. The main areas are divided by book cases that display their impressive selection of wines. Upon entering this place you are greeted by friendly and attentive staff. After a few drinks at the front bar, a dozen of us were escorted to the private dining area at the back of the restaurant. It was like a private oasis, a meticulously decorated room that was just as impressive as every other part of the restaurant. Combined with the dimly lit lights, the vibrant atmosphere and silver service, dining at this restaurant was never going to be anything but an pleasurable experience.
With French restaurants being renown for small serving sizes on large plates, I decided to order the 400g Scotch Fillet steak. All the meals arrived at the same time within a reasonable amount of time. My dish was simple yet substantial. The steak was lean, tender, juicy and perfectly cooked. The potato stack was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The bone marrow was a nice touch. From a well constructed menu, my dish was executed with utmost precision. The meal was delicious and satisfying.

This place is impressive. The prices are not over the top and everything about the place is exceptional. Perfect for a romantic evening or just a place to chill out and relax, forget about flying to Paris, there’s a little bit of France right here in Adelaide. I thoroughly enjoyed dining here and I have no doubt you will too.
