Lighthouse Hotel

I’ve ventured out to Port Adelaide on several occasions and each time it was for the dolphin cruise. While waiting for the cruise to start, we decided to check out the local pub, the Lighthouse Hotel. The atmosphere here is relaxed and it’s nice to be able to see all the activity that is happening outside the hotel. The service here was good and the menu prices were on par with other pubs. One thing I did like about this place was the all you can eat salad and roast vegetable bar.

As usual, I ordered the Chicken Parmi. The meal came out 20 minutes after ordering and all meals came at the same time. The dish was well presented and the chicken was perfectly cooked. The schnitzel was also of a nice size and thickness. The Napoletana sauce was thick in texture and had appropriate coverage over the chicken. The mozzarella topping was generous and it had spent a perfect amount of time browning under the grill.

The beer battered chips were nicely cooked and was adequately salted. The chips were crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. The quality of the chips was also good as there were few crunchy bits. The salad was fresh as both the carrot and lettuce were nice and crisp. The salad size was a bit small but the salad bar made up for that.

Some of the empty buildings around Port Adelaide remind me of a ghost town, but this particular pub has a lot going for it. It’s definitely worth visiting if you’re in the area.
