Mamma Carmela’s has been around on Jetty Road for nearly 40 years. Their food is consistent and is of a high quality, which is probably main reason why they’re still in business. The décor could do with a bit of an upgrade, but really, the most important thing is how good the food is.

Today, I ordered the Calzone Rustico. The dish arrived 15 minutes after ordering and was nicely presented. The Bolognese sauce was nice and had a thick consistency, however, there wasn’t much of it. The calzone crust had a good thickness and was sufficiently cooked. The fillings were generous and cooked to perfection. The amount of mozzarella cheese inside was just right.

The staff were friendly and the service was above average. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was average. This place has been around for a very long time and there’s a reason for that.
