London Tavern

The London Tavern used to be one of those pubs we’d visit on our pub crawls back in the days of university. Since then, it’s been refurbished and it’s still a spacious open plan area. The fact that it is located in the basement area of the Myer Centre with no exposure to natural light as well as the lack of beer gardens does detract from it’s appeal.

As usual, I ordered the Chicken Parmi. The schnitzel was well cooked and of an adequate thickness. The diameter of the schnitzel was acceptable although I have experienced bigger. The napoletana sauce had a nice rich texture and had appropriate coverage of the schnitzel. The mozzarella topping was generous but it could have spent a bit longer browning under the grill. The salad was fresh, and the chips were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.

The staff were friendly, however the service was a bit slow. The atmosphere was relaxed mainly due to the lack of people there. The pricing is average, although I have seen better Chicken Parmi deals around.
