As if dominating the burger landscape out in the east wasn’t enough, Burger Foundry have expanded and opened a new store in the western suburb of Torrensville, just outside the city. Set amongst other popular shops and eateries on Henley Beach Road, this latest store is part of a strategic plan to spread the burger love to every corner of Adelaide.
Anybody that’s been to their St Morris store would already be familiar with the menu. Customers can choose a selection of burgers with either beef, chicken or vegetarian. For those that aren’t in the burger mood, there are two types of ribs and salad. As a spin off to Burger Foundry, the stores are also promoting Coffee Foundry, which is an assortment of hot and cold beverages for that caffeine hit.

The Torrensville store has been designed in the same mould as the recently developed St Morris store. Customers have the option of communal benches, normal tables and bar seats. The use of timber is prominent throughout, and the earthy colour tones have a nice calming effect. The bifold doors at the front, fold out, to provide plenty of natural light and ventilation.

To start off proceedings, I got into some Onion Rings. The coating was nice and crunchy, revealing a thin delicate caramelised onion centre. A perfect amount of Foundry spices was added.

The Jamaican Jerk is one of their most popular burger items on the menu. The chicken thigh fillets were well marinated, tender and succulent, and the beautiful smokey flavours were mesmerising. The tomato slices were ripe and the lettuce was fresh and crisp. The garlic aioli was well balanced by the sweetness of the mango salsa. The bun was nice and firm, and strong enough to hold all the ingredients. Hands down, this was the best chicken burger I’ve ever had.

Of course, who can look past a delicious rack of ribs? The Sweet & Sticky Ribs are generous in size. The pork is well marinated and meaty, and the meat, so tender and succulent, it simply falls off the bone. The bourbon barbecue sauce is subtly sweet and sticky, you’ll be licking your fingers clean.

To finish things off, I had the Rocky Road milkshake. The course texture of the chocolate, peanuts and marshmallow were noticeable in this creamy and sweet concoction.

The staff here are the most friendly and accommodating bunch of people I’ve ever come across. The service was exceptional with drinks and food arriving promptly. Plates were cleared as I finished and they even made sure that my experience was a great one. The atmosphere was relaxed, and I hardly even noticed the busy traffic off the main road. The pricing is fairly average, and on par with other specialist burger joints.
I found very little to fault with this place. The ingredients were of a high quality, and each item was perfectly executed. Combine that with great customer service and a wonderful ambience, and you’re on a winner. This new store is a blessing as I don’t have to travel too far to get my favourite joint.
