Burger Boss

Adelaide’s love affair with burgers continues as we see yet another store open. Burger Boss is located south of the city and is the latest to open it’s doors. There are only a few burgers on offer and they’re slight variations of each other. Add fries, shakes, soda and dessert, and it all starts to sound very American. They even have a secret menu which is what In-N-Out Burger do over in the States.

The decor looks like a cross between a fast food joint and 60’s diner. Seating comes in the form of booths and bar stools, and the venue itself is considerably spacious.

For lunch, I ordered the Double. The burger came out 15 minutes after ordering and was nicely presented. The beef patties were slightly overcooked, however, I was told that’s how they’re cooked by default and if I wanted them more rare, then I should have specified that at the time of ordering. The cheese was nicely melted over each patty, and the lettuce and tomato were fresh and crisp. The raw onion made a brief appearance, while their secret sauce was nice, but there wasn’t enough of it, making the burger a bit dry. The Boss bun was nice and firm, and held all the ingredients in well.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed, although I didn’t think they place was ventilated well enough. I say this because I smelt like burgers when I left the place. My burger set me back $10.50 which is average in price. Burgers start from $7 and go all the way up to $12.50, which is still fairly reasonable.

My burger reminded me of a Bacon Double Cheeseburger from Hungry Jacks. A lot of meat but nothing much else to it.
