Anybody that’s been down Melbourne Street would be familiar with Bad Boy Burger Bar. Their second store to open with the same name is in the new Allenby Gardens shopping complex just outside of the city. As with the first store, there are 24 types of burgers to choose from, as well as yiros, AB, hot dogs, grill packs, seafood and salads. To some extent, the menu reads like a Greek take away store.

The decor is neat and well presented with seating for 30 diners as well as a few more on the outside. Located on a end position within the complex, they have the benefit of natural light flowing in from two frontages.

For lunch, I ordered the Bad Boy Mega Burger. I hate to say this, but the service was unbelievably slow. I had the patience to wait 1 hour and 10 minutes for my burger to come out. There was a room full of customers looking at each other in disbelief. Some customers didn’t have the patience and asked for their money back, while others just walked out after being told of the long wait times. Even the store attendants looked a little lost when it came to bringing out the food. There were even customers returning their take away food because the orders were incorrect.
After almost dying of hunger, the burger finally came out. The presentation was average, however, it was good to know it was freshly made. The burger consisted of two beef patties, which were well marinated, tender and succulent. The patties were house made, however, they were inconsistent in size. The bottom patty was larger than the top one, and both weren’t the same diameter as the bun. The tomato was soft and ripe, and the lettuce was fresh and crisp. The lean cut of bacon was fried until crispy, and it’s saltiness was balanced by the natural sweetness of the caramelised onion and tomato relish. The bun was lightly buttered and firm enough to hold all the ingredients.
It was good but it reminded me of a glorified fish and chip shop burger. There were no fancy gourmet ingredients inside this burger to give it a wow factor.

The staff were friendly and like I said earlier, the service was slow. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing is reasonable to average depending on what you order. My burger set me back $12.90 which wasn’t too bad.
The burger was average in presentation and in taste. The long wait time was unacceptable.
