Barakah is located on Moseley Square, right in the heart of the action in Glenelg. As their name suggests, their two main sellers are pizzas and kebabs. There are 4 types of kebabs and a selection of traditional, gourmet and Turkish pizzas. The traditional and gourmet pizzas comes in 3 sizes.

The decor of this place is neat and well presented, and the for the most part, is typical of a kebab store. The ventilation is pretty good and there is a decent amount of natural light that flows through. The establishment is not particularly large with just over a dozen seats, but it is metres away from the beach, so I’m sure you could find somewhere to sit.

For lunch, I ordered the Zatar which is a middle eastern pizza. It’s toppings consist of oregano, basil thyme, mozzarella, sesame seeds and herbs. The dish was ready after a 15 minute wait and was nicely presented.
The pizza was 9 inches in diameter and baked to a dark golden brown. It was topped with a middle eastern herb mixture that was nicely charred along with roasted sesame seeds. The mozzarella cheese was well distributed and provided a nice gooey texture. The base had a nice thin consistency and wasn’t too oily.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was reasonable. The cost of the Zatar was $8 which is a perfect snack or meal for one. Their yiros start at $10, pizzas at $8 and their most expensive menu item is their family sized Lamb pizza at $29.
Verdict: A great place for a quick cheap snack if you’re in the bay area.
